Banana Bread [Oct. 18th, 2006|05:29 pm]
Jade
Just had a laugh with one of my co-workers (one that I like and will be missing as today was the last day I'd see her; tomorrow is my last day of work there).

I went to have lunch with her, and she hands me a sandwich bag with two slices of banana bread in it.

She: I tried to bake this for you... but it didn't turn out well. But it's the thought that counts, right?

Me: Right!

She: I think it might have been the flour... because it's kinda dry. And sticky. And maybe you shouldn't eat it unless you're really hungry...

Me: But it's the thought that counts, right?

So, yesterday, when we were working together (we only worked every third Tuesday together), she came up to me and said, "I heard a rumor about you... is it true?" And I told her, "Yes." And she was surprised. She didn't think I'd leave, and she tried to persuade me to stay and asked why I was leaving. She thought maybe something had happened to me in Hawaii (which I laughed at) but she's really nice and at least said that she hopes I do well in the future. She asked for my email address, which I gave her, and said to keep in touch. She's someone I'll miss... (She's one of the girls I mentioned in my previous posts, one that stood up for me and tried to defend me...)

*SIGH*

On the other side - the other job - I'm really not sure if I'm starting Monday or not because I have to clear Employee Health Services. *grumble* So, we'll see... If not, I get a one-week vacation! ;D

Yup! There was some drama (see my f-locked posts: here and here are some examples.) In general, it was fine. After I had worked there for six months, I got into the 'flow' of things and knew which people I could talk and chat with and which I couldn't. 'Tis life, right?

hahahaha... that I'd PAY TO SEE! *evil grin* ;D

Well, if you don't start on Monday, a week's vacation is an excellent alternative! :D

I'm sorry, but every time I see or hear the phrase 'banana bread' I can't help but crack a smile. You see, when I was a kid my mom listened to [what is now old] Amy Grant and some similar artists but also a guy named Keith Green (see icon). He's this retro/funky piano player guy who died in 1982. One song's entitled "So You Want to Go Back To Egypt" and is about the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after leaving...Egypt...because they were too chicken to go in and take over the promised land. But the funny part is that there are sections of the song where he plays on the word 'manna' and basically shouts/talks it into other foods. One comes out bamanna bread, and I used to laugh when I was little at that and still do to this day.

But back to the present...

That's cool that you've at least one good relationship to look back on from this job. I hope you're able to keep in touch with her and that her next attempt at bamanna bread comes out spectacular!

You are so silly!

But yes... her first attempt at banana bread baking was decent. I haven't tried this one yet, but she said her previous batch had turned out well, and she didn't know what went wrong with this one. ;D
