Happy Halloween! [Oct. 31st, 2006|07:38 pm]
Happy Halloween to all of you who celebrate it! ;)

Any Star Trek fans? (I know mari4212 is one... but I can't remember right now if ladybluestar and/or traceria is one)... I got this off my f-list, and thought I'd share it because it's cute:

So... small/funny things first (before I dive into the bigger stuff):
My desk arrived. Yay! So now I must work on it during the weekend. The funny part is that my sister and mother tried to assemble it when I was at work... and they couldn't figure it out (they said it was too complicated?). So, it's left for me. Twas amusing to find they only put two boards together, and called it 'quits' (and decided to wait for me).

Bigger things: Yesterday, my sister and parents were 'almost' in a car accident. I say 'almost' because my sister's car (which my father was driving) lost its front right tire (the tire fell off the axel and went bouncing away). Luckily, it was my father driving, so he was able to NOT lose control of the car and manage to slow down and stop on the side of the highway. Luckily, there wasn't much traffic (although there had been big rigs driving on the road that they had passed) and it was close to a city rather than the middle of the desert. Luckily, this didn't happen when I was driving her car (as I used to every other Wednesday at my old job) or she was driving (which she normally does, but for the past week and a half, she has been carpooling and the other girl has been driving). We both heard strange noises from the car, and they took it into Pep Boys, but the mechanics couldn't find anything wrong. They probably weren't looking specifically at the tires (probably looking at the engine) but whoever put the tire on when they were rotated or bought new (?) must not have secured it to the axel. Because... the tire went 'bye bye'. Everybody was quite scared and shaken up because it could have been A LOT worse.

So... we'll see. My sister may buy a new car. It might be "too expensive" to fix in the sense that fixing it might as well pay for a new car, because after driving on THREE wheels, the axel is now shot and that portion of the car - the fiberglass? or whatever they use as the car's shell is cracked - and scraped on the bottom fourth.

Can't say I qualify as a true fan, but I used to watch NG with my dad all the time, and we watched a great deal of Voyager through it's airing. I'll still catch an old rerun of the original or NG should nothing else strike my TV fancy. ;)

That's crazy! I was just looking at a forward with 'wow, that was close' in the subject line. One of the pictures included was of a guy on some sort of dirt buggy kind of vehicle, flying through the air as both back tires flew off. So glad your family's okay, though!

That's too funny with the dolls. I did watch some Star Trek with my mom, but never too involved.

Amusing about the desk, sounds like my in laws.

Yeah, buying a new car would probably be a good option. That sounds very scary.
