It's a lovely world that's all around you... [Jan. 14th, 2007|07:29 pm]

((above lyric is from Summer Stock's "All for You" (1950 movie)... and though it might not fit the entire theme/mood of this entry, I like it because it's a happy song. And I think it kinda fits Jackie's persona. ;D ))

So... let's see... work first.

Friday I had off, which was nice, and Saturday I worked. I found out that they let go the intern who was hired a few days before I was because they no longer had a position for her. Mainly because the position she was hired for was no longer available because the previous girl who held it came back to our department (transferred back from another location). It's part of a union clause, I've heard, that if you don't like where you transfer to, you can transfer back within a few months. Still, that's bad for who they hired to replace you in the first place.

And it's a bit fate/luck as well. If she had taken her board exams after she graduated in May and passed them, we both would be fighting for the one remaining spot... and I'm not sure since she was hired before me, if she would keep the position and if I would be the one who would be let go. But as we both would be on "probation", I guess it would depend on who they see is a better worker or who they like more.

The whole thing made me a little worried about my own job, but I've heard that I've filled the "spot" and they're not decreasing "spots", so my "spot" should be safe. Unless of course, the girl or guy (there was one of each; three people transferred out - 2 girls and 1 boy - and 1 girl came back) decide to come back... but it's doubtful. Both transferred to closer hospitals/medical offices closer to their homes. And I heard the only reason the other girl came back was because she didn't quite "cut it" at the other place...

Today, my family and I went to breakfast and then we went to watch Curse of the Golden Flower in the movie theaters. Quite bloody! (Hence, the reason it is rated: R) and overall, an "okay" movie. Would I recommend it? Most likely not. Unless you're into foreign-language films and the drama of Emperors/Empresses Kings/Queens and the royal house conspiracies to overthrow/assassinate and so forth...

I've got to remember my Ancient Runes homework... ^_~ And also to post about the Secret Valentine exchange for HH.

Almost done with my BX app! Aren't you excited? ^_~

Other than that... I feel the urge to make icons... and write! fics! and even had a crazy muse to touch my novel-in-progress! ooo... ^_^

I love Chinese cinema like that! House of Flying Daggers was like that movie, only not bloody, it was very good too. :)
